Traditional iron removal equipment could not remove weakly magnetic impurities in raw materials, resulting in the iron content of cathode materials remaining at 0.005%, which directly caused low battery cycle life and failed to meet the requirements of high-end new energy vehicle manufacturers. In August 2024, the enterprise introduced an automatic iron remover equipped with weak magnetic separation technology, which was installed in the refining process of cathode materials.

The magnetic field strength of the equipment is increased to 1.5T. Combined with a modular magnetic rod array and a metal detection linkage system, it can accurately capture weakly magnetic impurities such as iron oxide and stainless steel chips, reducing the iron content of cathode materials to 0.0008%. Tests by downstream battery manufacturers show that the lithium batteries produced with this raw material have a 15% increase in cycle life and a 3% increase in charge-discharge efficiency. This breakthrough enabled the enterprise to successfully obtain orders from a leading new energy vehicle manufacturer, and the sales volume of cathode materials in the first half of 2025 increased by 60% year-on-year. In addition, the IoT module integrated in the equipment can upload iron removal data in real time to realize full traceability of the production process, reducing the production line failure rate from 8% to 2.5% and annual shutdown losses by more than 2 million yuan.
